Capezio®'s popular Glissé pointe shoe, which debuted in Spring 2003, has quickly attained the illustrious position of becoming the company's best-selling pointe shoe ever. Originally designed from specifications developed by Gine Chant, a former ballerina with the London City Ballet and proprietor of Norwich Dancewear with more than ten years of experience in fitting dancers, this leading product features a streamlined, rounded sole; a flattering, high U-shaped vamp; extended platform for maximum support; shaved shank for enhanced in-step; and attractive elastic drawstring.
Since its successful introduction, an additional need surfaced for a version of Glissé with a stronger shank to accommodate a wider range of dancers. Recognizing that a softer shank does not suit every dancer, and to provide the highest level of service to its customers, Capezio® developed Glissé ES, lending increased support to dancers and enhancing the lifetime of the shoe.
"Generally, a shoe with a softer shank is worn by dancers at the two ends of the spectrum: young dancers who have low arches, dancers who have difficulty getting 'over' on pointe, and very strong professional dancers that need less 'help' from the shank of a shoe," explained Chant. "This leaves a vast group of dancers requiring a greater level of support, which is now satisfied with the introduction of Glissé ES."
"While many of our customers loved the shape and feel of Glissé, many required a stronger shank," continued Chant. "The original Glissé still sells well and is ideal for many dancers. Now with the introduction of the Glissé ES, an even greater number of dancers can benefit form the shoe's best-selling design and features."
Capezio®'s Glissé pointe shoe features a graduated flat crown box for maximum support, balance and stability, without extending to the top of the vamp. The top quarter of the hard shank is skived, enhancing your instep on and off of pointe. A high "U" shaped vamp, tapered satin around the heel and elastic drawstrings are other features to this beautifully tailored shoe. Available in two shanks, Regular and Extra Strength.
